DEFENCE NEWS

  • Indian Army celebrated the 199th Gunners Day on 28 September 2025, marking the raising of the 5 (Bombay) Mountain Battery in 1827.
  • Indian Navy’s Submarine Rescue Unit (East) aboard INS Nistar demonstrated its capability at Exercise Pacific Reach 2025 (XPR-25) hosted by the Republic of Singapore Navy.
  • Indian Navy successfully concluded biannual joint amphibious exercise “Jal Prahar 2025” with the Indian Army along the eastern seaboard.
  • INS Sutlej, a hydrographic survey vessel, arrived at Port Louis, Mauritius on 29 September 2025 for the 18th Joint Hydrographic Survey.
  • First Training Squadron (1TS) ships — INS Tir, INS Sujata, INS Shardul, and ICGS Sarathi — made a port call at Mombasa, Kenya on 25 September 2025.
  • On 26 September 2025, the Indian Air Force formally retired MiG-21 fighter jets, decommissioning its last two squadrons — 23 (Panthers) and No. 3 (Cobras) — at Chandigarh.
  • Indian Navy to commission INS Androth, the second ASW Shallow Water Craft (ASW-SWC), on 6 October 2025 at Naval Dockyard, Visakhapatnam.
  • Exercise KONKAN-25, a bilateral naval exercise between India and the Royal Navy (UK), began on 5 October 2025 off India’s western coast.
  • Indian Coast Guard (ICG) conducted the 10th National Pollution Response Exercise (NATPOLREX-X) and the 27th NOSDCP & Preparedness Meeting from 5–6 October 2025 off Chennai, Tamil Nadu.
  • ICGS Akshar, the second Adamya-class Fast Patrol Vessel (FPV), was commissioned at Karaikal, Puducherry on 4 October 2025.

NATIONAL NEWS

  • India and Bhutan approved their first-ever cross-border railway projects – Kokrajhar–Gelephu and Banarhat–Samtse.
  • On 10th National Ayurveda Day, the Ministry of Ayush inaugurated India’s first Integrative Oncology Research and Care Centre (IORCC) at AIIA, Dhargal, Goa.
  • World Food India 2025 concluded in New Delhi, attracting investments exceeding ₹1.02 lakh crore.
  • CCEA approved 57 new Kendriya Vidyalayas (KVs) under the civil sector.
  • NH-715 (Kalibor–Numaligarh) to be widened to 4 lanes with wildlife-friendly measures near Kaziranga National Park.
  • MSP for all Rabi crops increased for Marketing Season 2026–27.
  • Union Cabinet decisions included:
    • Additional DA/DR instalment for central employees and pensioners.

  • IAEA accepted Maldives as a member nation at its 69th General Conference in Vienna.

  • Singapore renamed an island “Zubeen Garg Island” on Google Maps, honoring the late Assamese artist.

  • Dr. R. Arthur James (BDU) received the Tamil Nadu Scientist Award (TANSA) 2022 for Environmental Science.
  • India received the International Social Security Association (ISSA) Award 2025 for Outstanding Achievement in Social Security.

SPORTS NEWS
