“Not every topper starts with notes and motivation. Some begin with excuses like ‘Shaadi mein gaya tha’… and end up in the Indian Air Force.”
When Himanshu first joined our offline + online batch, he came across as full of energy, charm, and the easy confidence that small-town boys from Pithoragarh often carry. But he was also that student – the one who’d casually skip class and later smile and say:
“Ghar gaya tha sir… Shaadi mein tha.”
He was likable, sincere at heart, but simply not serious enough.
Yet, deep down – the potential was always there.
All it took was the right spark.
The Spark That Changed Everything
That spark came from his own friend and batchmate – Deepesh Kholia – also from Pithoragarh. When Deepesh got SSB recommended, it hit home.
Suddenly, Himanshu wasn’t skipping class. He was living at the academy.
In the library.
In the classroom.
At SSB prep sessions.
Even rallying ping pong matches with staff and students.
But most importantly, he was consistent. Focused. Present.
Offline Guidance, Online Saviour
Of course, he still missed a few sessions – old habits take time.
But every time he did, he turned to one thing that became his silent saviour –
The Crack Defence Exams App.
He said this himself:
“Sir, jab class miss ho jaati thi… CDE App bacha leta tha.”
Through the app, he watched lectures, attempted 100+ mock tests, and began seeing real-time competition.
What surprised him?
Other aspirants were giving the same mocks. Competing. Scoring better.
And that hit his ego — the good kind.
“Jab kisi ne test diya aur mujhe beat kiya… ego hua. Par wahi ego mujhe aur mehnat karwane laga.”
It wasn’t the most ideal motivation, as he admits with a grin – but it worked.
And that’s what mattered.
From Rejection to Realization
He gave three SSBs. Got rejected.
But something changed in his final attempt.
This time, before going to 4 AFSB Varanasi, he told his mentors:
“Sir, iss baar bas pressure nahi loonga. Jo hoga dekhenge. Bas 100% dunga, bina result ki chinta ke.”
Just like Bhagavad Gita’s wisdom –
“Karm karo, phal ki chinta mat karo.”
That shift in mindset made all the difference.
He cleared AFCAT and got recommended for the Flying Branch.
The Smile He Earned
During SSB prep, mentors often told him:
“You speak well, but you don’t express. Show emotions. Smile more.”
So he worked on it. Again. And again.
Today, that smile has become a part of him –
Confident, calm, and warm – the smile of someone who fell, grew, and stood up taller.
Distractions, Doon, and Discipline
Himanshu often reflected on how Dehradun’s big-city charm was a distraction at first.
“Sir, for small-town boys like us, ye sab naya hota hai. Cars, malls, cafes… easy to lose focus.
That’s why good coaching and mentors matter.
Hum log confuse ho jaate hain… kya padhein, kaise padhein, kaun guide kare – kuch nahi samajh aata.”
Over time, he learned to say no to those distractions.
And yes to discipline.
A Final Word to Aspirants
Himanshu’s story isn’t about a student who started perfect.
It’s about one who chose growth over excuses.
Who learned to compete with himself, even when pushed by ego.
Who got serious, stayed sincere, and transformed from within.
His journey reminds us that:
- Missing classes isn’t the end – if you find your way back.
- Apps and online prep, when used sincerely, can become game changers.
- Competition isn’t always a threat. Sometimes, it’s a silent motivator.
- You don’t have to start like a topper… to end like one.
Himanshu, your story will live on – not just as a Flying Branch recommendation, but as a message to every student who’s still figuring it out.
From all of us at Crack Defence Exams, we’re proud to have been part of your journey.
We’re proud of your rise.
And we’re proud of the smile you finally learned to wear.
